Strictly speaking, I believe the river Gautami is a particular part or branch of the larger river Godavari. However, in daily usage, the name Gautami is used as synonym for Godavari.
The title is an extract from the famous song by Bhadrachala Ramadasu "అదిగో భద్రాద్రీ గౌతమి ఇదిగో చూడండీ".
నేను అడుగదామనుకొన్నా "అదిగో భద్రాద్రి , గౌతమి ఇదిగో చూడండి " అంటారు కదా, ఇదిగో చూపించారు, అదిగో భధ్రాద్రి అని అల్లంత దూరాన ఎమన్నా కనిపిస్తుందేమో అని చూసా .. బాగుంది ఒక గుట్ట మీది నించి గోదారి/గౌతమి.
